The afternoon sun highlighted this beautiful red river gum along the creek bed between Hawker and Parachilna in South Australia. They are a feature of the Flinders Rangers and feature in many of Hans Heyson's paintings. Their root system is very shallow and they are washed away in the floods. Some survive for years though.
